I just spent a few days here working in the “members only” section. Nothing too special there. Just some family activity photo albums. Registration is required to have access.
I had a problem with the photo album “plug-in” named “NextGEN Gallery“, I first chose to use. I uploaded over a thousand family photos and set them up into individual display tabs (buttons), according to event or subject area.
All displayed well for about 48 hours. Then the NextGEN viewer started loosing connection with the photo storage and would not retrieve photos for display. Very strange behaviour for a top rated photo gallery plug-in.
No apparent cure so I loaded my second choice plug-in gallery called “FooGallery“. I discover it has some very nice display feature. Should have been my first choice.
The big problem was I had to totally reload all the photos from scratch. There is a helper program I tried called “FooGallery Migrate“. But it’s function failed miserably. I suspect because the existing NextGEN galleries were already defective. Can’t migrate what is already broken.
It was a lot of keyboard work but now I have the photos displaying properly and so far, not showing any failure symptoms. FooGallery works well for me and Blognasium.
